Helpful Links for RPCVs

The following sites are not necessarily associated with the Louisiana Peace Corps Association. They are just here for your convenience and enjoyment. Don't blame us for their faults and don't blame them for ours.

Africa Rural Connect: The National Peace Corps Association (NPCA) launched Africa Rural Connect to give RPCVs a chance to utilize the skills learned while overseas. They're looking for the Peace Corps Community to help lead the charge of formulating the most creative and practical plans for Africa's agricultural development. Check it out.

Connected Peace Corps: This NPCA powered site has Ning groups by Country of Service or current State of Residence.  Ning sites allow users to create profiles similar to Facebook. There is usually a common trait in all of the members of a Ning Group. LPCA has a Ning site called Bringing the World Back to the Bayou (not affiliated with Connected Peace Corps). They are free to join.

Peace Corps: This is the official website for the Peace Corps. There is a large section of the Peace Corps' website that describes the various resources available to Returned Peace Corps Volunteers

Peace Corps Connect
: This site is powered by the National Peace Corps Association (NPCA) website.  The site's mantra is "connect.inform.engage." It contains blogs, world news and ways for RPCVs to get involved in the global community. RPCVs can join NPCA by going to the site ($35).  It also allows RPCVs to join hundreds of member groups, such as the Louisiana Peace Corps Association, Friends of Turkmenistan and many more ($15/each).

Peace Corps Online: This site brands itself as the Independent News Forum serving RPCVs.

Peace Corps Response: PC Response provides opportunities for RPCVs to undertake short-term, high impact assignments in various programs around the world. They also have a free e-newsletter called "Impact."

Peace Corps Journals.com: This is a great website to find out what current PCVs are doing in country.  There is bound to be someone blogging from your Country of Service.

Peace Corps Worldwide - BLOGS: This is an online community and resource for RPCVs -- Blogger Utopia.

Peace Corps Worldwide - JOBS: This site is for RPCVs or Returned Staff looking for a job. You can visit the site and search current postings, or register with them and create a profile so employers can find you. Also, registered RPCVs and Staff can search the employer profiles to find organizations who match your interests even before jobs are posted. They are also accepting job postings from organizations looking for RPCVs or Returned Staff - for both domestic and international work. If your organization recruits RPCVs, you can post jobs for free, including full-time, part-time, volunteer positions or internships.  Current employers registered include Save the Children, HealthNet TPO from the Netherlands, CDM, Abt Associates, Transparency International and others.
